The New Cars was a band formed in 2005 with just two of the original members of the 1970s/1980s new wave band The Cars. The band was composed of Todd Rundgren, drummer Prairie Prince, Kasim Sulton, and original Cars members Greg Hawkes and Elliot Easton. The band performed The Cars' classic songs, Rundgren's solo work, and some new material.

Though no formal announcement has been made with regards to the current status of The New Cars, they would appear (at minimum) to be on hiatus. Rundgren has resumed his solo career, and The New Cars have not performed any shows since September of 2007. The band's official website was maintained until early 2010, but now appears to have been shut down.

Apesar de não ter gostado muito do design do novo modelo do uno, não tenha nada a criticar sobre o consumo do carro. Isso porque, tenho alguns colegas que adquiriram o carro e me falaram que, tanto o modelo antigo quanto o novo estão consumindo praticamente a mesma coisa.

Vale Ressaltar que, como eu destaquei "praticamente" ele não é igual o milagroso uno mile. Segundo relato de alguns proprietários do modelo antigo basta passar com o carro perto de um posto de gasolina que o mesmo anda, ou seja nem precisava abastecer de verdade rsrsrsr.

Mas sem delonga vamos voltar a falar do novo uno e seu desempenho nas pistas.

Desempenho: O motor flex de 88 cv com álcool deixa a desejar em baixa rotação, mas sua retomada chega a ser interessante, realmente o carro faz o que promete, ele é voltado para a cidade.

Console: Os botões são bem distribuídos e fáceis de manusear, o que falta é abertura de janelas nas portas. Como já foi dito o cambio mais elevado também é um ponto positivo pra ele.

Conforto (6) : Para um popular, possui bancos confortáveis, mas a posição para dirigi-lo deixa a desejar assim como o elevado valor pela aquisição do ar condicionado.

Estabilidade : Mesmo andando dentro da cidade já é perceptível que o vento é um vilão, mas sua suspensão se comporta muito bem durante frenagens, não deixando que o carro incline demais.

Acabamento: Muito bom para um carro popular, o plástico texturizado do painel e o estofado dos bancos foram muito bem escolhidos, apenas os botões do console aparentam ser frágeis.

Visual (8) : O interior está realmente muito chamativo, mas por fora seu visual apesar de moderno não é muito harmônico. Contando também a ausência de rodas de liga leve.

Consumo: Apesar de continuar gastando pouco seu modelo antigo era com certeza mais econômico, hoje mantém a marca dos melhores em consumo, mas perdeu seu 1º lugar.

Custo / Benefício : Caso queira pegar um carro "pelado" (sem acessórios), continua sendo um ótima opção, mas conforme colocamos os opcionais o preço do modelo sobe muito, ao ponto de comprar carros de melhor qualidade com vários dos itens vindos de série.

Freddyanto Basuki, National Sales Manager KMI, mengatakan bahwa saat ini evaluasi terakhir tengah dilakukan ATPM terhadap peraturan yang berlaku. Khususnya mengenai rencana kenaikan Pajak Penjualan Barang Mewah (PPnBM) yang mulai efektif tahun 2010.

"Semua masih kami perhitungkan. Bisa saja kami bawa masuk Februari. Tapi kalau nanti April, maka nanti PPnBM sudah naik. Kasihan konsumen. Paling kami akan masukan pertama dengan CBU Thailand atau dari Jepang. Kalau enggak Juni ya Juli-lah," ujar Freddy kepada Kompas.com, Minggu (3/1/2010).

Menurutnya, dengan perhitungan berbagai pajak termasuk pemberlakuan PPnBM maksimal 75 persen, harga jual Ninja ZZR akan menyentuh Rp 200 juta per unit. Salah satu alasan ATPM memasukkan produk ini adalah adanya permintaan dari para pebalap nasional yang ikut dalam ajang Supersport dengan mesin 600cc ke atas.

"Mungkin sekarang bisa Rp 200 juta, tapi kalau PPnBM sudah naik, ya pasti naik lagi nanti harganya. Untuk itu, kami harus pasti dulu," papar Freddy. Mengenai rencana semula memboyong Ninja ZZR dan ER6-R rakitan lokal (CKD), hal itu menurut Freddy masih terus diupayakan. Vespa sejatinya merupakan roda dua produksi Italia. Namun Vespa limo malah berhasil diciptakan di Afrika Selatan bukan di negeri Menara Pisa itu.

Dinamai Vespa Stretch Scooter, Vespa matik ini memiliki panjang dua kali lipat Vespa biasa. Selain itu meski masih memiliki dua roda, namun motor ini dapat ditunggangi hingga empat orang sekaligus.

"Vespa menyebutnya 'mobil' keluarga pada roda dua," demikian disebutkan dalam situs Autoblog, Senin (4/1/2010). sebutan ini, mungkin karena kemampuan Vespa limousine itu yang sanggup ditumpangi ayah, ibu, beserta dua anaknya sekaligus layaknya sebuah mobil.

Meski pihak Vespa Afrika Selatan mengaku ini merupakan skutik Vespa terpanjang yang diproduksi massal, sayangnya  belum ada rincian harga yang ditawarkan pihak penjual untuk motor ini.

Menurut Ketua Harian MSC Yogyakarta Wiwid Bayu, kegiatan ini merupakan bentuk keakraban antara calon anggota dengan para anggota klub Vespa. "Tujuannya untuk keakraban, terus untuk saling mencintai sesama anggota, untuk mempererat persaudaraannya," ujar Wiwid.

Selain melakukan mandi oli, para calon anggota baru juga harus saling bersuap-suapan saat makan. Mereka juga harus mengikuti lomba mendorong Vespa dengan kondisi mesin mati.
Salah satu calon anggota baru merasa senang dengan kegiatan seperti ini karena dapat menambah keakraban dibandingkan perpeloncoan dengan kekerasan yang sering dilakukan genk motor lain.

"Saya merasa bangga karena saya sebagai anggota baru saya dilantik seperti ini untuk mental kita sendiri dan untuk jaga-jaga kalau nanti di jalan ada apa fisik saya sudah terisi," cetus Agus, calon anggota MSC.

Perpeloncoan ini kemudian diakhiri dengan mandi bersama di objek wisata Bendungan Ancol. Perpeloncoan model ini dapat memberi contoh pada klub motor lain untuk tidak berbuat kekerasan saat menerima anggota baru.

Sebelumnya, Ratusan pengendara Vespa klasik dan skuter Lambretta bakal menghiasi film layar lebar terbaru Brighton Rock yang pernah populer di era 1947-an.

Film yang diangkat dari novel karya Graham Greene yang ditulis pada 1939 ini, rencananya akan melibatkan ratusan Vespa klasik dan Lambretta sebagai figuran.

Seperti dikutip dari BBC, pihak rumah produksi film remake tersebut telah menyeleksi 200 pengendara Vespa klasik dan Lambretta untuk mulai syuting di sejumlah daerah di Brighton dan Eastbourne, Inggris.

Tiap pekan pertama di bulan Agustus, penggemar sepeda motor dari seluruh dunia datang ke tempat ini guna mengikuti Sturgis Rally Motorcycle. Dan untuk tahun ini momen bersejarah itu sedang berlangsung.

"Sturgis Rally muncul pada 1938. Kala itu ribuan penggemar sepeda motor memadati dan parkir di sepanjang jalan City Park," tulis Motorcyclenews, Kamis (12/8/2010).

Kini setelah 72 tahun jumlah bikers yang datang ke lokasi ini tiap awal Agustus membengkak hingga ribuan peserta. Bahkan mereka datang bukan hanya dari AS melainkan seluruh penjuru dunia.

Selain ajang kumpul bikers, di gelaran tahunan ini juga bisa ditemui beberapa motor yang tampir nyeleneh. Misalnya saja menggunakan ban dengan ukuran tak lazim, berbodi mirip traktor, atau sengaja didesain menyerupai bentuk hewan tertentu.
